The schooling landscape is evolving, and False Bay TVET College is in the forefront, recognizing that the traditional school model is not the only helpful means of studying. Their NCV programmes are made for college students who want to commence their journey toward a fulfilling vocation early on.

CareersPortal.co.za had a chat with the Head of Section for Engineering Studies at False Bay College, regarding their offering.

False Bay's Engineering NCV programmes are provided at two campuses: Westlake Campus and Khayelitsha Campus. These Engineering programmes are for a three-year duration.

NCV Engineering Course Entry Prerequisites

These programs begin at NCV level two as well as bare minimum requirement would then be Grade nine certificate with a pass in Mathematics.

As soon as the student finishes NCVLevel two, they would then have attained a grade ten certificate. NCV Level three would be grade 11 and here NCV Level 4 is grade twelve.

NCV Level 4 is at the exit level, being comparable to a Countrywide Senior Certificate (NSC).

Grade 9 is on NQF level one. Our NCV programmes start NCV level two which is equivalent to an NQF level 2.

On which kind of students are suited to these programmes, they say that the world is acknowledging that traditional schooling is not really always the one means of getting an artisan or becoming experienced so if a student knows from an early age what their interests are, the NCV programme is definitely properly suited for that student.

False Bay TVET College will assist the student to become qualified in his field of interest. Students who want to become entrepreneurs will also have access to their Centre of Entrepreneurship on the Westlake Campus.
